Youssoufa Moukoko is the youngest player to ever feature in the Champions League

Youssoufa Moukoko recently became the youngest ever player to feature in a Bundesliga match at 16 years and 1 day old. The German wonderkid made his professional debut as a substitute in Dortmund’s match against Hertha Berlin.

With his appearance against Zenit in Dortmund’s last match of the group stage, Moukoko became the youngest player to ever play a Champions League game, aged 16 years and 18 days only.

The record was previously held by Céléstine Babayaro of Anderlecht, as he featured against Steaua in 1997 at the age of 16 years and 87 days. Moukoko has been unbelievable considering his age and has been hailed by Erling Haaland as better than himself at the age.

Moukoko was part of the St Pauli Youth Academy before moving to the Dortmund academy in 2016. The teenager has had an insane scoring record even at the youth level. He has scored 90 goals and provided 16 assists from 56 games for Dortmund’s Under 17 team.

What is even more impressive is the fact that he has managed to score 47 times and set up 10 different goals in just 25 matches for Dortmund’s Under 19 team. Considering the fact that he played with the senior players at such a young age, it really says a lot about his scoring ability and his maturity at such a young age.

Moukoko made his debut for the German Under 16 team at only 13 years of age and currently, at 16, features for the German Under 20 team.

Dortmund were victorious in Moukoko’s first outing in the Champions League, beating the hosts, Zenit by 2 goals to 1.
