Your Malayalam OTT Watchlist This Week Is Stacked — Sports, Scams & Comedy Chaos All in One Go

If you’ve been scrolling endlessly looking for something genuinely worth watching, stop right there. Malayalam cinema is delivering three very different — but equally compelling — stories to OTT platforms this week, covering everything from badminton courts to Wayanad jungles to systemic corruption. Here’s your complete guide.

Malayalam OTT Releases This Week — Quick Overview

1. Cup — The Underdog Sports Drama You Need to See

Director: Sanju V Samuel | Runtime: 2 hrs 26 mins | Platform: ManoramaMAX

Cup follows Nidhin Babu, a young badminton player from Kerala who dreams of making his mark in competitive sports. As he prepares for crucial tournaments, he must navigate academic pressure, family expectations, and personal struggles.

Mathew Thomas, who has shown incredible range in his short career, leads this one — and the combination of Basil Joseph and Guru Somasundaram in supporting roles suggests there’s real depth to the storytelling beyond just the sport. Badminton as a cinematic backdrop is rare in Malayalam films, making Cup a genuinely fresh watch for sports drama lovers. Riya Shibu and Anikha Surendran round out a strong young cast that brings both energy and authenticity to the story.

Watch it if: You love underdog stories with emotional weight and real stakes.

2. EXAM: The System Exposed — A Woman vs. Corruption Thriller

Director: A. Sarkunam | Platform: Amazon Prime Video | Language: Malayalam Dub (Tamil Original)

EXAM: The System Exposed follows Jhansi, a determined young woman who assumes the identity of a police officer to infiltrate the Regional Public Service Exam (RPSE) scam. As she uncovers corruption deeply embedded within the system and the pressure around her intensifies, she must expose the network of deceit threatening the lives of countless aspirants.

Dushara Vijayan carries this film on her shoulders, and by all accounts, she delivers. This is the kind of premise that hits close to home for millions of Indian students who’ve been victims of exam fraud — making it not just entertaining but deeply relatable. With Aditi Balan and Abbas lending strong support, this one promises gripping tension from start to finish.

Watch it if: You want a socially relevant thriller with a powerful female lead at its centre.

3. Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil — Kunchacko Boban’s Comedy Thriller Is Already Making Waves

Director: Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval | Runtime: 2 hrs 15 mins | Platform: Netflix

This is arguably the most anticipated Malayalam OTT release of the week. Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil follows Sethu, a timid government health worker caring for his paralysed and hallucinating brother Madhu in Wayanad. Their isolated life is thrown into turmoil when a fugitive named Rajendra Prasad breaks into their home. The film explores how Sethu and Madhu’s lives change after Rajendra’s arrival and the chaos that follows.

Kunchacko Boban has been on a terrific run with content-driven films, and pairing him with Dileesh Pothan and the legendary Jaffer Idukki in a remote Wayanad setting sounds like a recipe for pure cinematic gold. Director Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval’s previous work has shown a sharp knack for blending dark humour with human emotion — expect more of the same here.

Watch it if: You love Malayalam comedy thrillers that sneak up on you with genuine heart.
