YEIDA

During a YEIDA office visit, MEJ officials met with YEIDA chief executive officer RK Singh and officer on special duty Shailendra Bhatia to finalize details of an MoU focused on collaboration in the medical devices sector. The memorandum of understanding will be signed during an upcoming Japanese delegation visit, paving the way for at least seven leading Japanese firms to establish manufacturing and R&D units.

“This partnership with MEJ is a game-changer for the Medical Devices Park and the ‘Make in India’ initiative. It will accelerate the creation of a sophisticated healthcare ecosystem, driving innovation, and positioning us as a key global manufacturing location,” said YEIDA CEO RK Singh.

What Makes This Cluster Special?

Technology Transfer: The partnership will enable the transfer of cutting-edge technology and know-how from Japanese firms to Indian companies, bridging the technological gap in medical device manufacturing.

Export Opportunities: The collaboration will create new export opportunities for products manufactured by Indian companies at the park, targeting the specialized Japanese healthcare market.

Strategic Location: Positioned just 3 km from the upcoming Noida International Airport, the park offers unmatched connectivity for global logistics and supply chain management.

The Bigger Picture: North India’s First Medical Device Park

This Japanese cluster is part of North India’s first dedicated medical device park, spread over 350 acres. YEIDA has been nominated as the State Implementation Agency by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemical & Fertilizers, Government of India, underlining the project’s national importance.

The park will manufacture diverse medical equipment including cancer care devices, radiology imaging systems, cardio-respiratory equipment, renal care devices, and implantable electronics—addressing India’s heavy reliance on imported medical technology.

Investor-Friendly Incentives

The Government of Uttar Pradesh offers attractive incentives including reimbursement of up to 7.5% interest on loans for plant and machinery, 70% reimbursement of net SGST for 10 years, special incentives for air cargo handling charges, and 50% EPF reimbursement for units providing employment to 100 or more workers.

Impact on Healthcare and Economy

For patients, this means access to affordable, high-quality medical devices manufactured domestically. For the economy, it translates to thousands of jobs, reduced import dependency, and positioning India as a global medical device manufacturing powerhouse.

The timing couldn’t be better. India’s healthcare market is booming, and the government’s push for self-reliance in critical sectors makes this Japanese collaboration a strategic masterstroke. The integration of Japanese precision engineering with India’s manufacturing prowess creates a win-win scenario.

Looking Ahead

With infrastructure development nearly complete and the central government directing completion by January 2026, the park is on track to become operational soon. The Japanese delegation’s upcoming visit will finalize investment commitments and explore co-manufacturing opportunities with Indian companies.

For Uttar Pradesh, this isn’t just about manufacturing medical devices—it’s about positioning the state as India’s healthcare innovation capital. The ripple effects will benefit related industries, create a skilled workforce, and attract further international investments.
