Many smartphone companies have introduced foldable smartphones and unsurprisingly these foldable devices have gained more popularity in the past year. Due to the increasing demand for foldable smartphones, Xiaomi is going to launch its own foldable smartphone soon. MIUI 12 Code has confirmed that Xiaomi is going to launch a foldable smartphone in the first half of 2021.
According to the source, the upcoming foldable device from Xiaomi comes with a codename of ‘Cetus’. The phone is very likely running MIUI on Android 11, unlike many devices that Xiaomi has upgraded to MIUI 12. Under the hood, this phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor. But there is no confirmation about the SoC. It is expected that ‘Cetus’ may have Snapdragon 8XX (not specified yet) series SoC.
This upcoming foldable smartphone will have 108 Megapixels of the main camera sensor. But we haven’t got any other information regarding the other camera sensors.
According to XDA Developers, the senior member of XDA- Kacskrz has noticed that this upcoming foldable smartphone ‘Cetus’ within MIUI 12 Code. The Developers are also claimed to have verified assertion by examining the code of the latest closed beta build of MIUI 12.
But ‘Cetus’ is not the first foldable smartphone from Xiaomi, in a few times the company has teased its foldable concept device, but the device never made it to the hands of consumers.
Unfortunately, we haven’t got any further details of this upcoming phone like display specification, folding mechanism, exact processor, camera sensors, and etc. We are assuming that this upcoming foldable device-‘Cetus’, will have a high-speed specification to better justify a presumable premium price tag.
