In this current era of COVID-19, every smartphone manufacturer wants to contribute something through their technology for the sake of humanity. Nowadays, checking the heart rate, checking the oxygen amount in a body is quite important for our daily life.

There already a number of applications in the Play Store, which are claiming that they are able to monitor heart rate or the oxygen rate in a body. But 99% of them are just fraud. They ask for various permissions from the user as well as get access to the fingerprint of the user through the fingerprint scanner. At the end of the day, the user will be hacked.

But there are also some certified smartphone manufacturers, who use their certified apps or technology. Xiaomi has already introduced the Mi Health app last year. This is a primary application to find the health-related information the Mi devices are gathering – heart rate, steps, BMI, exercise goals, Health Scores, etc.

The XDA-Developers has confirmed that the v2.7.4 version of the app will now be able to measure your heart rate using just the camera of your phone (no additional sensors or hardware).

Let’s see how this feature will work. It is quite simple to use – you just have to put your index finger on the camera lens and wait until the progress bar gets to 100%. There are also some filters by which you can select what type of heart rate you want to measure, is it a general status, resting status, or was after exercise?

After the process, you will receive a complete heart test report, revealing whether the heart rate is slow, normal, or fast. The only extra thing you have to do is just clean your camera lens after testing.

Every time you use this feature, there will be a track record in the app’s dashboard. By this, users can easily keep track of their heart rate. This application is still not available on the Google Play Store so you can only use it if you sideload the APK.
