Xiaomi to Close Official POCO Website by December 2024: Why?

In an unexpected move, Xiaomi has announced that the official website for its POCO brand, po.co, will be shut down by December 31, 2024. This decision affects all global sites, including those in the UK, France, and other regions.

However, this does not signal the end of the POCO brand itself. Starting from October 21, 2024, all POCO products, services, and customer support will be fully integrated into Xiaomi’s official global website, mi.com/global.

Xiaomi to Close Official POCO Website by December 2024: What This Means for POCO Fans

What This Integration Means for POCO Users

The closing of po.co marks a significant shift for the brand, but Xiaomi has assured users that it will be a smooth transition. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Migration to Xiaomi’s Platform: All POCO-related services will be managed via mi.com/global. Users will not need to create new accounts or transfer their data manually. Purchase records, loyalty programs, including POCO Points, will automatically migrate to the Xiaomi platform.
  2. Coupons and Loyalty Programs: Any existing POCO coupons or reward points will be automatically reissued by December 12, 2024. Users don’t need to take any additional steps to access their rewards.
  3. After-Sales Support and Services: Despite the shutdown of po.co, after-sales support for POCO products will remain unaffected. You can continue to access customer service, track orders, and view logistics information through mi.com. The independent POCO Store app will also cease operations after December 31, 2024, but POCO products will still be available for purchase via Xiaomi’s official website.

Xiaomi’s Strategy Behind This Move

This integration aligns with Xiaomi’s broader strategy of streamlining its digital presence by consolidating sub-brands like POCO under the main Xiaomi platform. This restructuring is expected to simplify the shopping experience for users, as they’ll be able to access Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO products on a single platform.

Interestingly, POCO India, which operates under poco.in, seems unaffected by this decision, at least for now. This could suggest that Xiaomi intends to maintain some regional autonomy for POCO in specific markets like India, where the brand has gained a strong foothold.

What This Means for POCO’s Future

Although the standalone website for POCO is coming to an end, the POCO brand will continue to exist within Xiaomi’s ecosystem. This could actually lead to a wider reach for POCO products, as they’ll benefit from Xiaomi’s global infrastructure while maintaining their identity as a budget-friendly, high-performance smartphone brand.

Final Thoughts

While Xiaomi’s decision to close po.co may come as a surprise to some, it represents a step towards greater integration and efficiency within the Xiaomi ecosystem. For POCO fans, there’s no need to worry—all services, products, and customer support will be available under mi.com, ensuring that you continue to enjoy the same features and support that have made POCO such a popular brand.

Stay tuned for further updates as Xiaomi and POCO continue to innovate and expand under one unified platform!
