Xiaomi has officially revealed the launch timeline for its highly anticipated smartphone, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, which is set to be released in August. Xiaomi President Lu Weibing confirmed this information in response to a user’s query. Additionally, Lu Weibing also announced the inauguration of a new smart factory by the company, with the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 being the first phone to be manufactured in this facility.
The Anticipated Xiaomi Mix Fold 3
In terms of manufacturing improvements, Xiaomi aims to make Mix Fold 3 thinner and more durable. Furthermore, the device will boast Leica-branded cameras. As for the specifications, it is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and expected to support 67W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
In the camera department, the handset is likely to feature a 50MP Sony IMX858 sensor, along with a telephoto camera and a periscope camera. Additionally, an under-display fingerprint sensor is expected to be integrated into the primary folding screen.
However, certain key specifications of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, such as display size, battery capacity, RAM, and storage configuration, are still undisclosed at present. Looking back at its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, which was launched in August last year, it features a 6.56-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 21:9 aspect ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
The inner display is 8.02 inches with a resolution of 1914 x 2160 pixels, a pixel density of 360 PPI, and a brightness of 1300 nits. Powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and Adreno 730 GPU, the Mix Fold 2 offers up to 12GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.
In the camera department, the Mix Fold 2 boasts a triple-camera setup, including a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 13MP ultra-wide sensor. The front side is equipped with a 20MP camera. A 4,500mAh battery with 67W fast charging support keeps the device running. Additional features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and stereo speaker support, and it comes with Android 12 out of the box with MIUI 13 skin on top.
