Xiaomi has begun teasing the upcoming launch of its next-generation foldable phone, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, which is set to debut in China this June. This marks an earlier release than its predecessor, the original Mix Flip, which launched in July of the previous year. Those in the market for a new clamshell-type foldable, then, will likely find the Mix Flip 2 an enticing prospect.

Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 Teased for June Launch with 5,100mAh Battery, Leica Optics, and Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC

A teaser poster from the company carries the message “See You This Month” in Chinese, matching predictions from popular Chinese tipsters Smart Pikachu and Digital Chat Station (DCS), both of whom had also been calling for a late June release. The teaser doesn’t give us a lot in terms of how the phone will look, but it does confirm that the phone will be powered by Xiaomi’s HyperOS and come with Leica-branded cameras, which has been an ongoing partnership since the original Mix Flip.

Additional details from earlier leaks suggest that the Mix Flip 2 could come equipped with the largest battery ever seen in a vertically folding phone—a sizable 5,100mAh unit, surpassing the 4,700mAh cell of its predecessor and the batteries found in competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Motorola Razr 60 Ultra. Performance is expected to take a significant leap, with the Mix Flip 2 likely featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

This processor uses Qualcomm’s in-house Oryon cores and reaches speeds of up to 4.32GHz, outperforming the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 used in the original Mix Flip, which is based on Arm’s Cortex cores and maxes out at 3.3GHz. Other anticipated upgrades include 50W wireless charging support, IPX8 water resistance, and a 50MP ultrawide camera replacing the telephoto lens. The internal display is rumored to be a 6.85-inch 1.5K OLED panel with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, offering an enhanced visual experience for users.
