Earlier this year, Xiaomi made an announcement about replacing MIUI with HyperOS, starting with the Xiaomi 14 Series. The company stated that selected existing devices would also undergo migration from MIUI to HyperOS through software updates.
All About the Xiaomi HyperOS and POCO F5 Update
The POCO F5 has recently commenced receiving HyperOS through OTA updates, marking it as one of the initial devices to be upgraded with Xiaomi’s newly developed operating system. This update is being globally rolled out to all POCO F5 users, with plans for HyperOS updates on other eligible models to be revealed soon.
For POCO F5 users, the HyperOS update is now available, replacing MIUI. Users can easily update their devices without the need for a computer or a factory reset. To check for the update, users can navigate to Settings > About Phone > Software Info > Updates. Notably, the HyperOS update for the POCO F5 is based on Android 14.
Xiaomi emphasizes that HyperOS brings various enhancements over MIUI, facilitating better integration of its devices into the company’s ecosystem. Xiaomi intends to implement HyperOS not only in smartphones but also across all its products, including tablets, IoT devices, and more.
In terms of smartphones, HyperOS boasts improved resource management and incorporates AI models in the software to adapt the system based on the user’s usage patterns. However, it remains unclear whether all these features will be available on every device.
The POCO F5, initially launched in India in May 2023 with MIUI 14 based on Android 13, is anticipated to receive two Android updates and three years of security patches. The latest HyperOS version represents the first major update for the POCO F5. However, the company has not officially disclosed the specific update cycle for this device.
Xiaomi initially introduced its next major software update in October, starting with the Xiaomi 14 series in China. The company has now revealed the first batch of devices globally set to receive the update, with POCO confirming the update for the POCO F5. The list of Xiaomi and Redmi devices slated to receive the HyperOS update starting from Q1, 2024, includes:
- Xiaomi 13 Ultra
- Xiaomi 13 Pro
- Xiaomi 13
- Xiaomi 13T Pro
- Xiaomi 13T
- Redmi Note 12
- Redmi Note 12S

Xiaomi assures eligible users that OTA updates will be gradually rolled out, with plans to announce release details for other models at a later date.
