Xiaomi 14 Ultra Leaks: Hands-On Images Revealed and More Details
The Xiaomi 14 Series was first introduced in China back, in October 2023 showcasing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset to the world. At that time, two devices were launched: the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro, both equipped with Leica-powered cameras. After rumors started circulating about an Ultra variant and recently leaked images posted by tipster Jim Zhang on CoolApk, a Chinese app marketplace seems to reveal the upcoming Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
More About the Leaked Xiaomi 14 Ultra
These leaked images reveal a phone that’s still, in its prototype stage as indicated by the casing surrounding it. The notable feature showcased is the inclusion of a periscope telephoto lens for enhanced zoom capabilities. The individual using the phone in these images appears to be holding the Xiaomi 14 Pro model suggesting that Xiaomi is likely testing out the camera functionalities for their Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The camera app’s user interface seems to align with what we have seen on flagship devices from Xiaomi.
Although Xiaomi has not officially disclosed any specifics about the Xiaomi 14 Ultra industry insiders speculate that its launch timeline will likely follow a pattern, to Ultra flagship releases, which typically occur around three to four months after the mainline Mi Series launch. It’s worth noting that the Xiaomi 13 Series was unveiled in China in December of 2022 followed by the release of its counterpart, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra in April of 2023.
Based on information provided by a source called Digital Chat Station there are rumored specifications regarding the upcoming Xiaomi 14 Ultra. It is said to feature a high-resolution camera with a 50MP sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS). Additionally, it is expected to be powered by Sonys LYT 900 sensor and incorporate an aperture mechanism.
The upcoming phone is also anticipated to feature a quad camera setup consisting of a 50MP telephoto lens, a 50MP periscope lens, and another 50MP ultra-wide lens. The optical zoom capacity is expected to exceed the 3.2x zoom found in the Xiaomi 14 Pro. There are hints that Xiaomi may introduce a default titanium frame for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, building on the special edition Xiaomi 14 Pro’s titanium frame. While the regular variant still employs aluminum, the addition of titanium is anticipated.
A potential launch window for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in China is around March 2024. However, global availability may be limited, as Xiaomi has traditionally been conservative with flagship launches outside of China. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra, for instance, saw a limited release in select international markets, with Xiaomi introducing the Xiaomi 13 Pro in India while skipping the base and Ultra variants.
Rumored specifications for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra include a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The device is expected to run HyperOS based on Android 14, with RAM and storage options of 12GB/16GB and 256GB/512GB/1TB, respectively. The front camera is speculated to be 32MP, and the phone may house a 5500mAh battery with 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging capabilities. Additional features may include an IP68 rating and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
