Xiaomi, known for its mobile devices, is gearing up for a major change in less than 48 hours after announcing the retirement of its MIUI operating system. The Chinese smartphone brand has officially confirmed that the Xiaomi 14 Series, equipped with the innovative Hyper OS, is set to debut in China on October 31st. This exciting revelation has piqued the curiosity of tech enthusiasts, thanks to a leaked launch poster that offers a sneak peek into what’s in store for Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone lineup and its new proprietary operating system.

The Upcoming Xiaomi 14 Series and Hyper OS 1.0

The leaked poster, originally shared by tipster Abhishek Yadav in a recent tweet, solidified the imminent arrival of both the new device and the innovative operating system later this month. Xiaomi has been using its proprietary UI for more than 13 years in its smartphones and tablets. However, it recently announced its intention to replace MIUI with a new system. Surprisingly, this week, the Chinese brand disclosed its plan to retire both the UI and MIUI, ushering in the era of HyperOS with the impending Xiaomi 14 series.

Hyper OS, as described by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, will make its debut in the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series, marking a significant step forward for the company. Lei Jun also revealed that HyperOS would gradually replace MIUI on older devices currently running MIUI.

One intriguing aspect of this development is whether Xiaomi is venturing towards an operating system based on the Android framework, akin to other brands like ColorOS, OxygenOS, OneUI, and Funtouch OS. These systems consistently enhance their software while retaining the latest Android version as their foundation. There have been suggestions that Xiaomi may have drawn inspiration from Huawei’s Harmony OS by implementing elements from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and employing a streamlined kernel.

Turning the focus to the Xiaomi 14 Series, detailed specifications of the upcoming devices have recently surfaced, hinting at the likelihood of these phones debuting with the new operating system. The devices are expected to feature a 6.44-inch Huaxing C8 OLED screen boasting a 1.5K resolution, a rapid 120Hz refresh rate, an impressive peak brightness of 2,800 nits, and Dolby Vision support. Powering these devices is anticipated to be the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 System-on-Chip (SoC), complemented by LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Furthermore, the Xiaomi 14 series is rumored to incorporate Leica-branded cameras, much like the Xiaomi 13 devices. This would include a primary 50-megapixel OV50H camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a secondary 50-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a third 50-megapixel sensor featuring a telephoto lens, forming a triple rear camera system. According to reports, the base model’s 4,600mAh battery is expected to support 90W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.
