Multiple reports have claimed Xiaomi will announce the Xiaomi 12 Series of flagship devices by the end of December 2021 in China. Some leaks have even given us a release date of 28th December.
Today, Xiaomi released a statement to confirm that it will indeed hold a launch event on the date specified to announce the Xiaomi 12 Series.
Xiaomi unveiled a poster featuring Chinese sprinter Su Bingtian endorsing the Xiaomi 12 Series. While the poster does not hint at the number of devices in the Xiaomi 12 Series, the Weibo handles of Xiaomi execs indicate that there will be at least three Xiaomi 12 models.
Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s founder, Wang Teng Thomas, Xiaomi’s General Manager, and Lu Weibing, Xiaomi Group President have used Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X, and Xiaomi 12 Pro smartphones to write posts on Weibo.
Xiaomi devices with 2201123C, 2112123AC, and 2201122C model numbers are expected to launch in the Chinese market as Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X, and Xiaomi 12 Pro.
All three devices have successfully received 3C and TENAA certification in China. The 12 and 12X are expected to support 67W fast charging, while the Pro variant could offer 120W fast charging.
The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are likely to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip whereas the 12X could have the snapdragon 870 chip. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra could officially launch in Q1 of 2022 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. The Xiaomi 12 Series will run on MIUI 13 based on Android 12 OS.
