Microsoft is working quite aggressively to let its presence increase in the gaming market. its Xbox Games studios have been quite frequently active in acquiring an impressive list of subsidiaries churning out games for Xbox fans and Windows users.
For many day’s it was rumored that the Japanese gaming giant, Sega, will be acquired by Microsoft soon. However, in the latest rumors, Sega is nowhere mentioned as a potential acquisition deal. According to recent sources, the world’s largest software maker has increased its subsidy studios under Xbox. Xbox already has 23 studios under it and now the company has received 3 more, taking the number from 23 to 26.
However, Microsoft is yet to confirm this news, and still, these are just rumors and speculations being made. According to sources, the new studios to join Xbox are IO Interactive and Avalanche.
The IO Interactive is the studio behind the Hitman series and was formerly owned by Square Enix. Avalanche Studios is owned by Nordisk Film at the moment, but it wouldn’t be difficult for Microsoft to lay an attractive enough offer on the table. It’s the company that came up with the Just Cause series. The studio which is rumored to have gone to the green side is Crytek. All three studios would fit in well with the Xbox Game Studio lineup.
however, recent rumors also indicate that Kojima Productions is working closely with Xbox. And of course, we cannot simply dismiss the fact that Sega being in the process to be acquired by Xbox cannot be simply discredited. It seems that we can expect to see more additions to the Xbox family real soon.
