Earlier this month, Microsoft began testing its Xbox Game Pass family package in Ireland and Colombia. Now, Twitter leaker Aggiornamenti Lumia has discovered branding for “Game Pass Friends & Family.”
Microsoft may not be considering limiting Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers’ ability to share their benefits with anybody other than their immediate family, according to the leak. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in Ireland are currently able to subscribe to an unidentified test plan for €21.99 per month (instead of the standard €12.99 per month), which includes sharing subscription advantages with up to four additional people. Microsoft’s test plan merely specifies that participants must reside in the same nation; it makes no mention of a family constraint.
Microsoft presently charges $9.99 per month for Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass.
Both lack online multiplayer functionality, but for $14.99 you can upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which gives you access to Game Pass for consoles, PCs, EA Play, and online multiplayer.
All the benefits of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will be available to four more friends or family members under this new family package, which is now probably going to be called Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family. Access to Xbox Cloud Gaming, Xbox Live, and even PC Game Pass versions of titles are all included.
