Xbox 2026 Schedule: Halo in Summer, Kiln in April, New Controller Coming

Microsoft is gearing up for a monumental year as Xbox celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2026. According to The Verge’s Tom Warren, the gaming giant is targeting releases across its “four horsemen” franchises while introducing a next-generation controller. This ambitious gaming console roadmap positions Xbox for a major comeback.

Xbox 2026 Release Schedule

The Four Horsemen Push

Microsoft is making a concentrated effort to release Forza, Halo, Fable, and Gears—its flagship franchises—all within 2026. This marks the first time in years these Xbox gaming pillars will launch together.

Forza Horizon 6 kicks off May 19, confirmed during Xbox Developer Direct 2026. Halo: Campaign Evolved, the remake of the 2001 classic from Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries), targets summer 2026. Fable and Gears of War: E-Day are both scheduled for fall/H2 2026.

Avoiding the GTA 6 Wave

With GTA VI launching November 19 and marketing starting this summer, Xbox faces a scheduling challenge. Microsoft reportedly has clear launch windows for Fable and Gears but wants to avoid releasing near Rockstar’s juggernaut that will monopolize gaming attention for months.

Kiln and Starfield Expansion

Kiln, Double Fine’s multiplayer pottery-smashing game, targets April 2026. New Starfield content is expected “soon,” with Polish sources claiming a PlayStation 5 version could launch April 7, though unconfirmed.

Next-Gen Controller with Wi-Fi

Xbox is releasing a new controller in 2026 featuring Wi-Fi connectivity to reduce Xbox Cloud Gaming latency. This “next-gen” pad was originally planned for 2024 but delayed. The Wi-Fi feature enables direct cloud server connection, bypassing Bluetooth limitations.

Windows Central also expects an Xbox Elite Series 3 Controller in 2026, aligning with next-gen controller rollout.

Free Ad-Supported Cloud Gaming

Microsoft is close to testing free ad-supported Xbox Cloud Gaming with Insiders before broader 2026 rollout. Combined with reduced-latency controllers, this could boost Game Pass adoption significantly.

Fallout 3 Remaster

Bethesda’s Fallout 3 Remaster remains in “active development” targeting polish similar to the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake. No 2026 release is expected.

This aggressive schedule represents Xbox’s attempt to refocus on its platform after controversial multiplatform moves. With plummeting hardware sales, delivering these flagship titles is critical.
