Real Madrid has been drawn against Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals. The last time these two sides met was in the 2018 Champions League final, where Los Blancos beat the Reds by 3-1 in the way to claim their third successive Champions League title.

Real Madrid would look to keep their record intact against the Reds and progress to the semi-finals. Whereas Liverpool has been already out of the Premier League title race mathematically, and winning the Champions League is their only hope of silverware this season.

Former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has talked about the upcoming Champions League quarter-final tie between Real Madrid and Liverpool on 6th April.

Xabi Alonso told the Mirror: “Benzema has shown this season he is still one of the best strikers in Europe.

“He scores goals on big occasions and he will be the biggest threat for Madrid.

“This is where Liverpool will wish Van Dijk was fit – but Kabak will need to step up and show he is ready for these big games.”

Xabi also commented on the battle between Real ace Toni Kroos and Liverpool’s Fabinho. He added: “Kroos is another player who knows exactly what it takes to win The Champions League and is one of the most successful players in the competition.

“He again is very creative – and Fabinho will play a very important role in trying to break down the creativity of Kroos and the creativity of Madrid’s midfield.”
