Wrestling veteran Vince Russo recently dropped a bombshell claim that has the WWE Universe buzzing. The former WWE head writer suggested that the company was testing Chelsea Green to see if she would follow instructions without questioning them. This revelation comes from behind-the-scenes footage shown on Netflix’s WWE Unreal series, giving fans a rare glimpse into backstage politics.

WWE Controversial Finisher Change

Date	December 14, 2024
Title	Inaugural Women’s United States Championship
Controversy	Last-minute finisher change

The drama unfolded during one of wrestling’s most historic moments. Green was instructed to use a legdrop for the pinfall instead of her signature Unprettier finishing move. When she questioned why WWE wanted this sudden change, nobody could provide a clear explanation.

According to Russo on The Ariel Helwani Show, this wasn’t a creative decision—it was a backstage compliance test. The wrestling industry insider believes WWE officials wanted to evaluate whether Green would simply accept directives without pushback, regardless of logic.

Chelsea Green’s Championship Journey

Despite the backstage controversy, Green has emerged as one of SmackDown’s most entertaining characters. She became the inaugural WWE Women’s United States Champion at Saturday Night’s Main Event and later regained the title on November 7, defeating Giulia to become the first-ever two-time champion.

Her success extends beyond WWE. Green and Ethan Page captured the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship, making her a double champion across two promotions. For more updates on championship reigns and wrestling news, check out TechnoSports’ wrestling coverage.

The official WWE website confirms that Green has formed The Secret Hervice faction with Piper Niven and Alba Fyre, solidifying her position as a top-tier talent.

What This Means for WWE Performers

This alleged test highlights the delicate balance wrestlers must maintain between creative expression and corporate compliance. While Green ultimately succeeded and won the championship, Russo’s comments raise questions about how WWE evaluates talent beyond in-ring performance.

The Bigger Picture

Whether you view this as standard operating procedure or controversial management tactics, one thing is clear: Chelsea Green proved she could handle pressure both in front of and behind the cameras. Her subsequent championship reigns demonstrate that she passed whatever tests WWE threw her way.
