The FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup 2022 stage is now set after the completion of the Group Stage draw. India U17 women’s national team now knows who will be their competitors during the group stage of this forthcoming tournament.

After successfully hosting the FIFA U17 World Cup 2017, India is now focusing on another historic moment as the country is now preparing to host the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup 2022. This tournament will run between 11th and 30th October 2022 in three venues. Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium (Odisha), Margao’s Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Goa) and Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium (Maharashtra) will organize the entire competition.

The official draw for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup 2022 was organized on Friday (24th June) at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich (Switzerland). All the 16 participating teams were equally divided into four pots according to the FIFA rules to conduct the Group Stage draw of this tournament.

Nothing is impossible

Just like the hosts India U17 women, Morocco U17 women will also experience their first-ever FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in the upcoming edition.

In the meantime, USA U17 women were runners-up in the inaugural edition of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in 2008, while Brazil U17 women have never crossed the quarter-finals (2010 and 2012) of FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

Interestingly, both USA (since 2012, didn’t qualify in 2010 and 2014) and Brazil (since 2016, didn’t qualify in 2014) have never crossed the Group Stages of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cups since their best records in the tournament. It proves that nothing is impossible in this youth tournament as India U17 women can dream big.

At the end of the Group Stage, the top two teams of each group will advance to the quarter-finals of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup 2022.
