After the hosts England Women qualified for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 final, another big favourite Germany Women advanced to the final of this tournament with strong performances.

UEFA Women’s Euro can’t be dreamt of without Germany Women, who are holding the record of eight titles as they are the only team to win this trophy more than twice. After failing to qualify for the first two editions of the UEFA Women’s Championship (1984 and 1987), Germany Women won eight out of the next nine tournaments (1989, 1991, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013) as they finished in the fourth position in the 1993 edition.

But Germany Women have returned to their familiar nature in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022. Before the beginning of the 12th edition of the UEFA Women’s Championship, they had some hard results in the early of this calendar.

However, the National Eleven have shown their true characters at the right time as they have won all five games of the ongoing edition of the UEFA Women’s Championship. Moreover, they have recorded four clean sheets out of five games as they have netted 13 times and only conceded once.

Group B

8th July at Brentford Community Stadium, London: Germany (4) – Denmark (0)

Germany Women started their journey in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 with sweet revenge against Denmark Women of their 2017 edition quarter-finals elimination. This time Die Nationalelf won by 4-0.

Lina Magull (21’) scored their first goal in this tournament. Later, Lea Schuller (57’), Lena Lattwein (78’) and the skipper Alexandra Popp (86’) added once each.

(Semi-finals) 27th July at Stadium MK, Milton Keynes: Germany (2) – France (1)

The skipper Alexandra Popp (40’) provided the 1-0 lead for Die Nationalelf against France Women in the second semi-final of this competition. With that goal, she has scored all the five games of her team in this tournament.

Merle Frohms’ own goal equalled the scoreline for France Women (1-1) in the 44th minute, which was also the first goal against the German team in this edition. However, the German leader Popp once again struck for her team in the 76th minute as they reached the final of this competition with a 2-1 victory.

Final line

Just like the hosts England Women, Germany Women have also dominated in the ongoing UEFA Women’s Euro edition. Both teams have managed four clean sheets out of five games, although the English team has scored seven more goals than the German side in this competition.

There is no doubt that the best two teams of this tournament have deservingly qualified for the final of this competition. Now, Die Nationalelf are getting ready to win its ninth UEFA Women’s Championship by beating one of the best teams in the present women’s international football.
