Willy Wonka: Gene Wilder’s Voice Is Coming Back to Netflix

Netflix just found a golden ticket of its own. To mark 55 years since the beloved 1971 classic, the streamer is launching Wonka’s The Golden Ticket — a reality competition set inside Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, featuring the AI-recreated voice of Gene Wilder himself.

Willy Wonka: Overview

What’s the Show About?

Twelve real-life “Golden Ticket” winners, each bringing a partner of their choosing, step inside a fully built Wonka factory to face physical, mental, and moral challenges. Think social-experiment meets game show, wrapped in candy-colored chaos, all chasing one life-changing prize.

Gene Wilder Is Back — With Family’s Blessing

This is the headline-grabber: Wilder’s estate has officially approved recreating his voice for the series. His wife, Karen Wilder, said the project honors the warmth and wonder Gene brought to the role while introducing it to a new generation.

Original Oompa Loompa performer Rusty Goffe also returns, adding a genuine link back to the 1971 film.

Behind the Scenes

The series comes from Eureka Productions, with Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Rikkie Proost, David Tibballs, Alison Holloway, and Emer Harkin producing. It arrives alongside Netflix’s broader Wonka push — including the animated Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory, slated for 2027.
