Will Ferrell Crashes Netflix’s The Fifth Wheel in a Blonde Wig & Velvet Suit — And Nobody Saw It Coming

Nobody keeps a secret in Hollywood. But somehow, Will Ferrell has been quietly sneaking onto the set of Netflix’s The Fifth Wheel — and the first-look photos just blew the whole thing wide open. Let’s just say: the man showed up in a flowing blonde wig, leather pants, and puffy poet sleeves. Very much vintage Ferrell energy. Very much unexpected. Very much perfect.

The Fifth Wheel Netflix Movie — Key Details

What Exactly Is The Fifth Wheel?

At its core, The Fifth Wheel is a women-centered story about a group of high school best friends who reunite for a chaotic Las Vegas weekend getaway. The trouble? A mysterious “hot outsider” crashes the trip and forces them to confront their messy lives, bad decisions, and slowly unravelling friendships. Classic Vegas, really.

Written by comedy heavyweight Paula Pell (Sisters) and Janine Brito, the film is directed by Eva Longoria, who is also producing. The ensemble comedy film format is clearly being leveraged to its fullest here — and the cast proves that point immediately.

The Cast Is Already A Big Deal — And Ferrell Just Made It Bigger

Kim Kardashian stars and produces, joined by Nikki Glaser, Brenda Song, Fortune Feimster, Jack Whitehall, Casey Wilson, and Scott MacArthur. That alone would generate plenty of buzz. But Will Ferrell — credited purely as a producer through his Gloria Sanchez Productions banner — was never officially listed as appearing on screen.

Until now.

Set photos captured Ferrell on the Los Angeles set dressed as what can only be described as an aging hair-metal legend: long blonde wig, graying beard, crushed red and black velvet vest, sheer puffy sleeves, chunky rings, and black leather pants. He was photographed actively reading from a script, confirming this is a full performance, not a quick cameo walk-past.

Is he the “hot outsider”? A Vegas showman? A bizarre ex? Whatever the role, Will Ferrell in that costume is already one of the most entertaining things about this film — and we haven’t even seen a trailer yet.
