Why Soha Ali Khan And Saba Pataudi Missed Their Own Brother’s Wedding

Some family stories only come out decades later, over coffee on a talk show. This one’s a good one: Saif Ali Khan’s sisters, Soha Ali Khan and Saba Pataudi, recently revealed they weren’t even at his 1991 wedding to Amrita Singh — and the reason is refreshingly relatable.

Speaking on Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi’s chat show “Double Date,” the sisters recalled being far too young to attend. Saba was just 15 and Soha only 13 when their brother tied the knot, and news of the wedding reached them in the most unexpected way — through a call to the school principal’s office, with strict instructions to stay quiet about it.

Soha Ali Khan And Saba Pataudi: The Timeline of Events

According to Saba, the family asked them to keep the news private even though it had already reached the newspapers, since no one was sure how accurate the reports were. Soha, for her part, remembers hearing about it from her French teacher rather than her own family, calling the whole thing a last-minute affair.

Saif and Amrita’s marriage — despite their 12-year age gap and very different backgrounds — lasted 13 years and gave the couple two children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, both of whom are now actors in their own right. The couple separated in 2004, and Saif later married Kareena Kapoor in 2012, with whom he shares sons Taimur and Jehangir.

It’s a sweet, slightly chaotic glimpse into how even star-studded families deal with the ordinary chaos of growing up — school, secrets, and news that travels faster than parents can control it. For more Bollywood family stories and celebrity throwbacks, check out TechnoSports Entertainment.
