Ralf Rangnick was the head coach and director of football of RB Leipzig for 7 years till 2019. The dream project that he sowed the seeds for are reaping some amazing results in the past few years. The German side gained promotion to the Bundesliga in 2016 and since then the club has been in the headlines often! RB Leipzig has made several big moves in the transfer windows.

Naby Keita was their first big move to Liverpool for 60 million euros. He came to Leipzig for 29.75 million from RB Salzburg. This was just the first of many. Timo Werner became their next masterstroke. He came from Stuttgart for 22.2 million euros. Chelsea then bought Werner from their hands for 53 million euros.

Why RB Leipzig rule the transfer windows?

This Summer Window – Sold

During this summer window, Leipzig continue their amazing presence in the market. Dayot Upamecano was their first big move in this window. Bayern Munich shelled out a hefty 42.5 million euros for the defender. Ibrahima Konate was the next thing being sold to Liverpool for 40million euros. Additionally, they sold Marius Wolf to Borussia Monchengladbach for 9.5 million euros.

The list doesn’t end here. Bayern Munich paid Leipzig another 25 million euros when they signed their head coach Julian Nagelsmann. That adds to almost 92 million euros of income in one transfer window. It was also noteworthy that these earnings made them the highest-earning side from transfers in this window.

This Summer Window – Bought

RB Leipzig hasn’t wasted time in investing their earnings to strengthen their side. They have already spent 91.62 million euros of their earnings. Their first signing was star striker Andre Silva for 23 million euros from Eintracht Frankfurt. This was followed by signing Josko Gvardiol 18.8 million euros from Dynamo Zagreb. They also finally bought Angelino from Manchester City for 18 million euros.

Mohamed Simakan for 15 million euros from Strasbourg, Benjamin Henrichs for 15 million euros from Monaco, and Caden Clark for 1.82 million euros from New York Red Bulls were some other signings they made during the window.

The best part is that even with as many as 10 transfers going on either side, the transfer window is still long from over. We will hope to see some of these bargains prove to be bargains in the coming years. RB Leipzig’s sporting project surely looks to be on the rise.
