It looks like Whatsapp has finally decided to listen to their customer’s demands. You must be aware of Whatsapp Web. It helps you to use Whatsapp on your laptop if your phone is connected to the internet. But there were two shortcomings in this. Firstly, you can use Whatsapp Web on just one device. If you have opened Whatsapp Web on your laptop but want to use it from your desktop later, you first have to log out from the previous device. This used to irritate a lot of people who had to shift between different devices. Secondly, you can use Whatsapp Web only when your phone is connected to the internet. Even if your laptop has an internet connection but your phone does not, you won’t be able to operate Whatsapp on your laptop.
According to reports, both of these complaints have been addressed by Whatsapp. They are testing the multi-device feature on the web. They will offer WhatsApp Web BETA to their users to get to know how well this new feature is performing on a smaller scale. The reports also suggest that this multi-device feature allows you to operate Whatsapp through four devices in total. That means other than your phone, you can use your Whatsapp account through three more devices.
Another possibility to note is that it won’t be mandatory to have your phone connected to an internet connection. You will be able to use Whatsapp on your laptop or desktop even if your phone is not connected to the internet. The image above shows how you will see a new ‘WhatsApp Web Beta’ tag on your device. You just have to go to the Whatsapp Web section on your phone where you will this option. All the features won’t be available from the start. You won’t be able to archive, mute, or delete chats from other devices. Also, you won’t be able to make any calls through your laptops and desktops.
Whatsapp has been working on multi-device support for some time now and this feature could prove to be really helpful to their customers.
