What does the future without Ramos look like for Real Madrid?

Sergio Ramos has left Real Madrid after spending 16 glorious years at the club. During that time, he emerged as the backbone of the first team and led them to 22 titles, all of which he was pictured with during his farewell.

Considering that Ramos established himself as one of the greatest centre-backs of all time, it will no doubt be difficult to replace him. In particular, his unparalleled leadership qualities from the back, his defensive composure and his signature finishing ability make him legendary.

The club has already confirmed the signing of David Alaba from Bayern Munich as a free agent. The Austrian captain is expected to be the direct replacement for Ramos, with Eder Militao and Nacho Fernandes also set to be a part of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

Raphael Varane could also leave the club as well this summer. Manchester United are in the race for the player, and he has rejected two contract offers as well. The club could replace him with Jesus Vallejo to complete the four man backline.

They could also go for exciting young prospects like Jules Kounde of Sevilla or Pau Torres of Villareal this summer, to further bolster their options at the back. Both players have a hefty release clause in place, and have been pursued by various European clubs.

In truth, it will almost be impossible to replace a player like Sergio Ramos who not only loved the club, but also gave his all on the pitch whenever he put on the shirt.
