Not every big star and a beloved franchise name guarantee a big number. Akshay Kumar’s “Welcome To The Jungle” is proof of that.

The comedy drama is wrapping up its theatrical run in India at roughly Rs. 131 crore nett, a modest finish for a film carrying the weight of the popular Welcome franchise. The film opened strong, but momentum faded fast once fresh releases hit theaters.

Directed by Ahmed Khan, the movie started with a solid Rs. 92.25 crore in its first week alone. But the drop-off after that was steep — collections fell to Rs. 30 crore in week two, then crashed to just Rs. 6.50 crore in week three, before limping to Rs. 1.50 crore in its fourth and final week.

For context, the original “Welcome” was one of Bollywood’s biggest all-time grossers, and even the Akshay-less sequel managed a strong opening and solid final numbers. This third installment, despite the star power, couldn’t match that legacy — and reportedly even trails behind Akshay’s own “Bhooth Bangla.”

Welcome To The Jungle: Week-by-Week Collections (India Nett)

Week	Collection
Week One	Rs. 92.25 crore
Week Two	Rs. 30.00 crore
Week Three	Rs. 6.50 crore
Week Four	Rs. 1.50 crore
Total	Rs. 130.25 crore

The silver lining: reasonable production costs mean the film still counts as profitable. But for an IP with this much brand recall, “Average” is the kindest word trade watchers are using.
