Newcastle United have submitted a second bid for the signing of Joao Pedro from Watford, and the offer has been rejected. The Magpies made an offer worth £22 million plus £3 million for the player, only to have it disapproved.
The Toons are in the market for a new striker, and have been linked with several targets. But, they have not been able to sign any new players to match their targets yet. With Emmanuel Dennis joining Nottingham Forest earlier in the window, it remains to be seen whether Watford will let go of another key player in the same transfer window.
Joao Pedro bid rejected by Watford
Here is what Watford head coach Rob Edwards had said of the Joao Pedro offer: “The bid (previous) that has come in that’s been talked about, it’s not anywhere near the level that we’d expect it to be for him, but we’re involved. I’m involved in that conversation.
“If anything else was to come in again, then we’ll sit down and talk about it as a club and as a board.”
It remains unclear whether Newcastle United will return with another offer for the centre-forward. The Brazilian is one of the most important players of the squad, and Watford want to keep him for the coming season. But, if an offer worth their valuation arrives for the 20-year-old, there is a chance will let him go back to the Premier League this season.
