Warframe Switch 2: 2026 Launch with DLSS & 60FPS Confirmed

Digital Extremes officially confirmed Warframe’s native Nintendo Switch 2 version launches in 2026 with NVIDIA DLSS support, targeting 60fps in docked mode, and dramatically faster load times than the original Switch port.

Switch 2 Version Features

First Look Gameplay Impresses

Recent devstream footage showcased Warframe running in handheld mode with DLSS enabled, revealing smooth performance and significantly reduced loading times. The development build demonstrates faster transitions between missions, improved frame rates during intense combat, and enhanced shading quality compared to backward-compatible Switch version.

Digital Extremes CEO Steve Sinclair emphasized shorter load times as a game-changer, transforming the experience from lengthy waits into near-instant mission access—critical for Warframe’s fast-paced cooperative gameplay.

DLSS Technology Advantage

NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Super Sampling allows Switch 2 to render Warframe at lower native resolution while AI upscaling delivers sharp, high-quality visuals. This technology enables demanding graphics without sacrificing performance, a balancing act the original Switch couldn’t achieve.

For competitive gamers, the 60fps target in docked mode doubles current Switch performance, making precision aiming and movement significantly more responsive during intense firefights.

Early 2026 Release Target

Digital Extremes stated they’ll release the Switch 2 version “as early as we possibly can in the new year,” though specific dates remain unannounced. While January 2026 seems unlikely given development timelines, a Q1-Q2 2026 window appears realistic based on the progress shown.

The current Switch version remains playable on Switch 2 via backward compatibility and performs slightly better than on original hardware, but the native port promises substantially superior experiences.

Seven-Year Switch Legacy

Warframe launched on Switch in November 2018 thanks to port specialists Panic Button, earning praise as a “remarkable technical feat” for Nintendo’s hybrid system. The game has since received seven years of consistent updates, maintaining a dedicated player base.

The Switch 2 version represents a fresh start for console players seeking performance parity with PC and PlayStation versions while maintaining portability advantages.

Additionally, Android closed beta testing begins November 2025, expanding Warframe’s platform reach further.
