Vivo‘s first foldable device has been codenamed ‘butterfly’ and the device is rumored to be named the Vivo X Fold. The device is expected to launch in April. After being spotted in a subway, that revealed the near crease-less front, the device’s under-display ultrasonic fingerprint solution has now been exposed.
Reputed tech blogger @Feiwei posted an image on Weibo of what appears to be the disassembled displays of the Vivo X Fold, both the inner and outer ones. Both the displays seem to have ultrasonic fingerprint sensors, which the tipster describes as being more advanced and simpler to use in comparison to side-mounted fingerprint sensors that the majority of other foldable make use of.
The Vivo X Fold will rival the Oppo Find N and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3, both of which have side-mounted fingerprint scanners, thus giving the Vivo foldable a slight edge.
In addition to this, the tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that the Vivo X Fold arrives with punch-holes in both the center of the outer screen as well as the center of the right half of the inner screen.
The display will be a 2K+ 120Hz E5 LTPO screen from Samsung with support for DC dimming. It is to be noted that the Vivo X Fold has already been certified by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and it also has got the 3C certification, which means it will launch very soon.
