VisionQuest Is Back: First VisionQuest Trailer Brings Paul Bettany and Ultron Together Again

He’s been resurrected, rebooted, and reborn more times than almost any Avenger — and now Vision is finally getting his own story. Marvel dropped the first trailer for VisionQuest at D23, and it’s already being called the emotional closer of a beloved trilogy.

What We Know So Far

Paul Bettany returns as the title synthezoid, on the run after escaping those who tried to weaponize him. Searching for meaning, Vision turns to the AI personas embedded in his own programming — including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and, most dangerously, Ultron, voiced once again by James Spader. His quiet existence is upended when a bounty on his head puts him on the run alongside Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Wanda and Vision’s son, reincarnated.

VisionQuest: Overview

Closing Out a Beloved MCU Trilogy

VisionQuest marks the conclusion of the story that began with WandaVision in 2021 and continued through Agatha All Along in 2024. It’ll be the first time Vision appears in both android and human forms since WandaVision’s finale, with the cast also including Emily Hampshire, Orla Brady, James D’Arcy, T’nia Miller, and Ruaridh Mollica as the grown-up Thomas Shepard. Bettany has been part of the MCU since its earliest days, having voiced Tony Stark’s AI assistant JARVIS back in 2008’s Iron Man before first playing Vision in Age of Ultron.
