Virat Kohli smashed his 71st International century and maiden T20I century in the match against Afghanistan on Thursday during Asia Cup T20 Super 4 match in Dubai. It took him 53 balls to hit a century. He mustered 122 runs in 61 balls with 12 fours and six sixes.
He opened the innings along with KL Rahul and stayed there till the end to score a total of 122 runs from 61 balls. During this T20I series, Virat broke the record of Rohit Sharma to be the leading run-scorer in T20I from India.
Rohit Sharma’s total was the highest by an Indian batter till Thursday which was 118 that he scored against Sri Lanka in 2017. Kohli took 32 balls to complete his 50 runs and completed his ton in the 19th over. He smashed 122 runs off 61 deliveries.
SuryaKumar Yadav scored 117 off 55 deliveries against England in Nottingham in 2022 which is the third-highest individual score in T20I tournament in India.
Rohit Sharma smashed 111 runs in 61 deliveries against West Indies and scored his fourth century in the shortest format.
KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 110 runs off 51 balls while India had a chase of 246 runs against West Indies in 2016.
Virat Kohli broke Martin Guptill’s record and became the highest runscorer in T20I format. Apart from that he joined the aristocratic club of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Suresh Raina to have centuries in all three formats of the game.
Virat also became the first Indian batter to play a total of 100 matches in all the three formats of the game and made a total of 276 runs from five matches. He also mustered two fifties in the tournament apart from the century on Thursday. He became the only batter in muster a tin in the Asia Cup tournament.
