Virat Kohli make an outstanding comeback in cricket by smashing back-to-back ODI centuries

Things have been going amazing for former Indian skipper Virat Kohli as he smashed back-to-back centuries in ODI cricket. Before the ODI World Cup 2023, his comeback made everyone very happy. He hit a ton in 80 deliveries and defeated Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the first ODI in Guwahati on Tuesday. This was his 45th ODI ton and 73rd international century. In December 2022, he smashed a century against Bangladesh.

However, his career in the past few years wasn’t rosy every time. For almost three years, starting from September 2019, he didn’t score a single century. He broke his century drought in last year’s Asia Cup by smashing a T20I ton.

“The one thing I learned was desperation doesn’t get you anywhere. The game still remains very simple. It’s when we start complicating things with our own attachments, our own desires, and our own attachment to who we become from people’s point of view, not who we were when we picked up the bat or the ball when we started playing. I think when that perspective goes off, you start putting yourself in a space where everything just keeps spiraling downwards.”– Virat Kohli said

On Tuesday, he started aggressively finishing at 113 off 87 deliveries at a strike rate of 130. He was dropped twice during his innings, once on 52 and at 81. He also talked about how he tackled failures and advised Suryakumar Yadav to be ready for the bad days. Kohli was rested for the three-match T20 against Sri Lanka and played the ODI. Before his comeback, he did make it along the break and made a comeback in the Asia Cup by scoring a ton. From there, there has been no looking back for him.

Further, he also added that he felt like the worst player on the team during his lean patch. After the Asia Cup, he started enjoying his practice sessions and whenever he felt the separation, he took two steps back instead of practicing more.

“I’ll just say this, if you are feeling even a little bit of desperation, always take two steps back rather than pushing more and more because then the thing you want will go further away from you.”– he said

Kohli got one step closer to breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 110 international centuries.
