Virat Kohli announces that he will step down from the role of RCB captain after IPL 2021

Rcb captain Virat Kohli made a shocking announcement regarding his captaincy on Twitter yesterday. Rcb posted a video where he declared that this will be the last season as the captain of the Bangalore side. Hence Virat’s time as a captain will finally come to an sorend after a long nine-year period after this season.

Earlier this week, Virat Kohli announced that he would step down as the Indian captain in shorter formats. Therefore this news came as a shock as no one was expecting Kohli to relinquish his captaincy duties in the IPL as well.

He put out a statement in a video describing his experience with numerous players and also mentioned that he has no plans of leaving Rcb.

“This will be my last IPL as captain of RCB. I’ll continue to be an RCB player till I play my last IPL game. I thank all the RCB fans for believing in me and supporting m.”

“It has been a great and inspiring journey, captaining a talented bunch of players in the RCB squad. It wasn’t an easy decision but one that has been well thought of and in the best interest of this wonderful franchise.”

Virat Kohli reveals that stepping down from the Rcb captaincy was on his mind for a long time

It will be very unusual for every cricket fan to not see Virat Kohli captaining the Rcb franchise from next season onwards. Soon after the announcement, Rcb posted a video where Kohli spoke about his decision to stay as the captain of Rcb for the last season.

Virat revealed that he was thinking about stepping down as the captain for a long period. He also mentioned that this decision was taken into consideration due to the workload and fatigue he endures. In the end, fans will always be thankful to Kohli for his excellent display of aggressive captaincy for the franchise. Moreover, it will be icing on the cake if he ends his reign as a captain by winning the IPL trophy with Rcb this year.
