In an exclusive conversation with Zoom, a source associated with the production of Vidaamuyarchi clarified that no plagiarism notice has been received from Paramount Pictures for ₹150 crore. Recently, rumors surfaced claiming that the Hollywood studio had accused Ajith’s upcoming film of copying content, but the source denied these allegations.

Ajith’s highly anticipated film Vidaamuyarchi will be released in theaters during Pongal 2025. The announcement was made alongside the teaser launch a few days ago. However, shortly after, the film’s controversy left Ajith’s fans concerned. Reports claimed that the upcoming movie is an unauthorized remake of the Hollywood movie Breakdown and that Paramount Pictures plans to sue Lyca Productions for ₹150 crore.

Makers of Vidaamuyarchi Deny ₹150 Crore Lawsuit Claims

After rumors surfaced about Lyca Productions being sued for ₹150 crore over copyright infringement, an investigation by Zoom revealed that the production house had not received any such notice. A source close to Lyca dismissed the allegations, stating, “How can one production company sue another for ₹150 crore? The claim is completely baseless. Lyca has been in the industry for years and understands intellectual property rights. Besides, (laughs) ₹150 crore for a remake? That’s an absurd figure—no one pays that much. Those spreading these rumors do not know the movie-making business.”

When asked about the origin of the rumors, the source explained, “Some visuals in the Vidaamuyarchi teaser appear to resemble scenes from Breakdown. This similarity is purely coincidental. Social media users are speculating and stirring up controversy because the film features a major star like Ajith.”
