Just when you thought Varun Dhawan’s plate couldn’t get any fuller — it did. And in the most exciting way possible.
Pinkvilla has exclusively learned that Varun Dhawan is in advanced talks for a Hollywood-backed inter-parallel universe action film produced by Lawrence Kasanoff — the legendary American producer behind the iconic Mortal Kombat franchise. Yes, you read that right. Bollywood’s action boy is about to go full multiverse.
What Do We Know So Far?
A source close to the development revealed that discussions have been progressing steadily over the last few weeks, and Varun recently connected directly with Kasanoff, with both sides currently in advanced talks. While things are still being finalised, the project could mark a significant global step in Varun’s career.
The parallel universe genre is virtually untapped in Hindi cinema, which makes this potential collaboration all the more groundbreaking.

If the name rings a bell, it should. Lawrence Kasanoff is the Hollywood powerhouse who produced the original Mortal Kombat film in 1995 — a franchise that defined a generation of action cinema. For Varun to be in conversation with a producer of that calibre signals a very intentional push toward global visibility.
What’s Next for Varun?
Before this Hollywood chapter begins, Varun Dhawan is gearing up for the release of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai — a rom-com directed by David Dhawan, also starring Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, set to hit cinemas on June 5. From a feel-good rom-com to a multiverse action thriller — this man really does not believe in playing it safe, and we’re absolutely here for it.
