Compared to $119.5 billion in 2021–2022, the bilateral trade between India and the US climbed by 7.65% to $128.55 billion in 2022–2023, according to preliminary figures from the commerce ministry, according to news agency PTI. The data shows that between 2021 and 2022, exports to the US rose from $76.18 billion to $78.31 billion, while imports rose from $49.92 billion to $50.24 billion, an increase of about 16 percent. India’s two-way trade with China fell by around 1.5% between 2022 and 2023, from $115.42 billion to $113.83 billion.
While imports increased by 4.16 percent to $98.51 billion in the most recent fiscal year, exports to China fell by roughly 28% to $15.32 billion. From $72.91 billion in 2021–2022 to $83.2 billion in the most recent fiscal year, the trade imbalance increased. Experts predict that as New Delhi and Washington work to further deepen their economic connections, the trend of growing bilateral commerce with the US would continue.
A Sakthivel, the president of the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO), claimed that rising exports of products like medicines, engineering, gems, and jewelry are assisting India in boosting its exports to the United States. He reportedly remarked, according to the PTI report, “The trend of expanding trade with the US will continue in the future months likewise.”
