Another day, another new leak of the upcoming Samsung Exynos 2200, which Samsung has still not yet announced. It is now said that this flagship SoC will be reserved for the Galaxy S22 series next year and finally we will see an AMD RDNA2-based GPU in action on smartphones.

This has endless possibilities and huge improvements compared to the previously used Mali GPUs on Exynos chipsets. We already got the leak, where we saw this Exynos SoC with mRDNA2 GPU comfortably beating Apple’s A14 Bionic in 3D Mark Wildlife GPU.

Even though in terms of CPU performance, Exynos 2200 won’t be the fastest out there but in GPU performance the 6-core mRDNA2 GPU delivers incredible scores. So, we see in the Manhattan 3.1 test, the Samsung Exynos 2200 scores as high as 170.7 fps while A14 Bionic manages 120 fps.

The story continues in Aztec normal and high benchmarks, where we see the Exynos SoC scoring 121.4 fps and 51.5 fps respectively. Now compared to A14 Bionic, that is nowhere near to mRDNA2 GPU’s sheer performance, where the Apple SoC scores around 80 fps and 30 fps in respective benchmarks.

So, you see a performance differential in the region of 45%, thanks to the integration of AMD graphics into the Exynos 2200. However, the point to be noted is that these figures were registered back in June using the development beta drivers provided by AMD, this means with more optimized drivers, you can easily expect a good performance bump.
