AMD is gearing up to launch new APUs next year in the form of the Ryzen 8000, which will be more of a refreshed Zen 4 but with some added performance. So, its upcoming AMD Ryzen 9 8940HS has also been leaked on Geekbench, thanks to BenchLeaks, possessing almost similar specs to that of its predecessor Ryzen 9 7940HS but having slightly better overall performance.
AMD Hawk Point APU (Ryzen 9 8940HS) shines on Geekbench
Talking more about this AMD Ryzen 9 8940HS, it will also feature the same 8 cores and 16 threads as the predecessor, with a base clock of 4.0 GHz and a boost clock of 5.2 GHz, and the same clock speeds as well. Also, having the same 16 MB of L3 and 8 MB of L2 cache setup and operating at almost the same 35W to 45W TDP, this upcoming APU with RDNA3 graphics is delivering better performance than the former.
In the leaked benchmark we see, the chip is paired with 32 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM, garnering a total of 2596 points in single-core and 13,258 points in multi-core. Now, if you compare this with the average Geekbench score of Ryzen 9 7940HS, this is almost a 4% improvement in single-core and around 12% in multi-core as well, so nothing too extraordinary, but yes, a good jump with almost no specs difference.
