Residing in the US, former Pakistan opener Sami Aslam has claimed that Unmukt Chand has arrived in the country. Aslam shifted to American cricket after he did not get the chance to represent Pakistan last year. Signing with the Major League Cricket at 25, the left-handed batsman has a long career ahead of him after quitting the alliance with his national side.

Sami has stated that several foreign cricketers have opted to move to the USA, and Unmukt could be one of them. The Delhi based opener was the captain in an under-19 World Cup winning campaign for India and has also played for Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Rajasthan Royals previously. The right-handed batsman is said to have arrived there with former under-19 teammates Smit Patel and Harmeet Singh.

However, Unmukt, who was involved in the Delhi squad during the 2020-21 domestic season, denies having any deal with the USA cricket. The 28-year-old cricketer started his negation about any possibility of plans to commit to American cricket. Moreover, he called it a “leisure tour’’ of sorts. He also mentioned that he travelled to meet with his relatives there and attended a few training sessions amidst the process.

Unmukt Chand stated, “I had gone to the USA to visit my relatives, and of course when there, I went for a bat or two — just to practice. I had gone to the training session just because I had come here, but I have done nothing like signing anything in the USA. This trip is nothing but a leisure tour.’’

The Delhi boy made his IPL debut in 2013 for Delhi Capitals, formerly Delhi Daredevils, and played there throughout IPL 6. A sum of 64 lakhs then saw him get transferred to Rajasthan Royals in the seventh edition of IPL.
