UEFA announces nominees of Men’s Player of the Year 2021/22 and Men’s Coach of the Year 2021/22

UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) has just announced the top three nominees of Men’s Player of the Year 2021/22 and Men’s Coach of the Year 2021/22.

The 34-year-old Real Madrid’s French striker Karim Benzema, the 30-year-old Real Madrid’s Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and the 31-year-old Machester City’s Belgian attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne are in the top three positions of the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year 2021/22 nominees.

The top three Men’s Coach of the Year 2021/22 nominees are Real Madrid’s Italian Carlo Ancelotti, Manchester City’s Spanish Pep Guardiola and Liverpool’s German coach Jurgen Klopp.

The Union of European Football Associations will announce the winners of both these awards on 25th August 2022 during the UCL draw for the 2022/23 season.

Favourite for UEFA Men’s Player of the Year 2021/22 award

Though the last two years’ UEFA Men’s Player of the Year runners-up Kevin De Bruyne is on this list, Karim Benzema and Thibaut Courtois are the top favourites for the final battle.

Benzema was in incredible form for Real Madrid last season, where he scored 44 goals in 46 games. Moreover, he provided 15 assists for the club. He played a crucial role for Los Blancos in winning the record-breaking La Liga and UEFA Champions League trophies along with the Supercopa de Espana title.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was another key player for Los Blancos to achieve huge success last season. Apart from his consistent saving performances, Courtois also won the Player of the Match award during the UCL 2021/22 final.

Attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne scored 19 goals and also had 14 assists for Manchester City in 45 matches of the last season. While City retained the PL trophy last season, Kevin won the Premier League Player of the Season award. City also reached the semi-final in the last UCL competition.

However, Karim Benzema is the favourite to win this award.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola won his fourth Premier League title with Manchester City last season, the second time he succeeded in defending the trophy.

On the other hand, the Premier League runners-up and UEFA Champions League runners-up Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool last season won the EFL Cup and FA Cup trophies as they just missed out on winning four titles in that season.

Surely, Ancelotti is hugely favourite to win this award for his outstanding successes at the top levels.
