UEFA Champions League to be decided by single matches behind closed doors in neutral venues

Every football fan might be worrying about the Champions League to resume sometime soon when this pandemic situation lightens.

But recently the reports say that the UEFA Champions League knockout stages will be decided by a single match, under closed doors in neutral places. That goes the same with the UEFA Europa League as well.

Even though the league games are on halt until further notice, it seems UEFA wants to finish their league so that domestic leagues can start up as soon as possible. This will help to reduce the economic crisis that the football clubs are facing currently.

UEFA Champions League & Europa League matches postponed due to Coronavirus

There are rumors that the Bundesliga could resume as soon as May, while the other leagues will follow in June or July to restart. The Continental trophies would then be decided in August.

There still remains four ties in the Champions League remain unresolved from their first leg results: Real Madrid-Manchester City, Chelsea-Bayern Munich, Lyon-Juventus, and Napoli-Barcelona. Those teams have to find time to finish out the matches remaining.

After that we might see one match at a time being held in some neutral places, without any audience so that both the Champions League and Europa League can find an ending this season. While the next season is scheduled to start in September.
