A Decade in the Making
Promoted collaboratively by The Ring and Dana White, the fight brings an end to over a decade of speculation, failed negotiations, and verbal sparring, finally giving boxing fans the matchup they have waited years to see.
Despite years of anticipation, a bout between Fury and Joshua always seemed just out of reach. Many fans assumed the fight would never materialise, particularly after Fury’s fifth career retirement following his back-to-back title losses against Oleksandr Usyk.
Hope for the clash was rekindled after Fury’s return to the ring on April 11, 2026, when he defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov and, in the wake of his victory, issued a direct challenge to Joshua.

Netflix Vice President Gabe Spitzer said: “Fury vs. Joshua is a fight years in the making between two of boxing’s biggest stars. It has the rivalry, the stakes and the scale to capture the attention of sports fans around the world.”
The Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority for Saudi Arabia, Turki Alalshikh, added: “This will be one of the biggest fights in boxing history. I am very happy to make this fight happen for the fans.”
Dana White also said: “Together, they bring 66 wins, 52 knockouts and multiple heavyweight world titles into the ring. On December 11, two of the biggest heavyweights of this generation finally collide, and the winner will take a significant place in heavyweight history.”

The event will stream live on Netflix globally to all members at no additional cost. That means no pay-per-view charges and no additional subscription tiers required. Every Netflix subscriber worldwide will be able to watch one of the biggest heavyweight fights in British boxing history at no extra cost on the night of December 11.
The Undercard
The event will feature a star-studded undercard, with additional bouts to be announced later. Further details are expected to be unveiled at the press conference on September 30 in London.
The Press Conference
Ahead of the December fight, Fury and Joshua will participate in a press conference on September 30 at British Airways Arc in London.
The Historical Significance
Two former unified heavyweight world champions, both British, both with elite knockout power, will share a ring for the very first time. Fury and Joshua have not fought professionally before. That is the central sporting hook of the booking: two British former heavyweight champions who have circled each other for years finally sharing a ring rather than trading public statements.
