Got a game idea but no clue how to code it? Roblox just made that excuse disappear. On July 16, the platform unveiled Build, a mobile-first AI creation tab, alongside a fresh set of agentic tools inside Roblox Studio — and testing kicks off July 28.
The pitch is simple: type a prompt like “a cozy forest adventure with obstacles,” and Build generates a playable starting point right inside the Roblox app, ready to tweak, playtest, and publish.
What’s Actually Launching in Roblox?
| Feature | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Build (mobile app) | Turns text prompts into a working game draft |
| Studio AI tools | Shared back end lets creators move between mobile and desktop |
| Playtesting agent | Finds bugs before real players do |
| Analytics agent | Answers questions about game performance in plain language |
| Experiment agent | Suggests tests to boost engagement and retention |
Roblox’s proprietary AI models — trained on a large library of 3D and gaming data — handle mechanics, environments, characters, sound, and visual style. The company’s existing Cube foundation model already turns prompts into game-ready props and vehicles, and a scene-generation model is coming soon to build entire editable 3D worlds from one prompt.
Roblox is careful to note discovery won’t change: games still need real players to get surfaced, so low-effort “AI slop” won’t flood the homepage.
Rollout Details
Build enters public alpha in New Zealand on July 28, open to age-checked users 9 and older during testing. Published games must clear Roblox’s safety review before reaching a global audience of age-checked users 16 and older. A basic version will be free, with paid options for power users.
