TWICE’s Chaeyoung Leaves JYP — But Insists Nothing Changes For The Group

Fourteen years is a long time to call one label home. So when Chaeyoung announced she was stepping away from JYP Entertainment, the news landed hard — until fans read her actual words and realized this wasn’t the ending they feared, just a new beginning she’s building alongside it.

What She Announced

On August 13, Chaeyoung shared the news directly with fans on Instagram, confirming she has parted ways with JYP Entertainment after 14 years with the label. In her message, she revealed she’s launching a new personal music project called “LIL FANTASY,” describing it as a space to explore and build her own sound.

Key Details

The Most Important Line in Her Message

Chaeyoung was careful to separate her label departure from her group identity, explicitly stating that nothing changes with TWICE and that her time in the group remains her roots. She thanked both JYP and her fellow members, calling them her biggest strength and support system, before framing this move as personal growth rather than a group shake-up.

Why This Matters for TWICE Fans

Label departures from individual K-pop members often spark instant breakup rumors, but Chaeyoung’s messaging was deliberate and reassuring. She’s pursuing solo creative freedom through “LIL FANTASY” while keeping her identity within TWICE fully intact — a distinction that matters a lot to ONCE, the group’s global fanbase.
