TP-Link brings its marvellous Archer AXE200 Omni router to CES 2022

TP-Link is demonstrating the prototype for its new Archer AXE200 Omni router at CES this year, which is undoubtedly one of the more unusual advancements. This year’s CES saw a slew of new routers that take advantage of 6E connection, but the engineering of this specific router is sure to raise some eyebrows.

The AXE200 has four antennas that automatically fold out and swivel to find the greatest signal available, no matter where it is. While the utility of this function is dubious, seeing a router come to life and automatically articulate its arms like some sort of alien homing beacon is cool.

While the efficiency of this feature is unknown, the technical specifications are outstanding. The AXE200 has increased tri-band speed, as you’d expect from a 6E router, with a 6Ghz band joining the existing 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz bands. Furthermore, the router’s Wi-Fi 6E compatibility allows it to take advantage of additional bandwidth and reduce overall latency. The AXE200 is currently at the prototype stage, thus no details on price or a release date have been released.

For those looking for something a little more traditional, TP-Link is also introducing the Archer AXE300 quad-band router, which has autonomous antennae but has the same alien style. In addition to the 6GHz and 2.4GHz bands, the AXE300 takes full advantage of WiFi 6E with double 5GHz bands. The cost of this device has yet to be set, however, it is expected to be ready in Q2 of 2022.
