IPL 2020: Top 5 IPL records broken in this season so far

IPL 2020 has been a crazy season so far! The first week of the tournament itself flipped the script on cricket fans’ expectations. Week 1 of the IPL already featured a super over, upsets, and injuries. 

The season also featured probably one of the best days of cricket as a Super Sunday featured two matches with three super overs.

Today we take a look at top 5 records accomplished in IPL 2020!

KL Rahul’s record century

Skipper KL Rahul smashed an impressive 132 runs off just 69 balls which included 14 fours and 7 sixes. He slammed the first century of IPL 2020.

Rahul still stands as the orange cap holder in the tournament. He has scored 525 runs in only nine innings at an average of 75. He has already scored one century and five half-centuries.

Du Plessis-Watson record partnership

The opening pair of Faf Du Plessis and Shane Watson smashed CSK’s highest partnership of 181 runs against KXIP.

They broke a nine-year-old record of 159 runs by Mike Hussey and Murali Vijay. It is also the fourth-highest opening partnership in IPL history.

Shikhar Dhawan’s historic consecutive tons

Around a week ago, Delhi Capitals’ Shikhar Dhawan had a record with which he wouldn’t have liked to be associated with. He was the player which the highest number of matches without (167) scoring an IPL century.

However, in just a week, not only did he ended this stint, he landed on the opposite spectrum as he became the first batsman to score consecutive centuries in the history of the IPL.

Dhawan scored a match-winning knock off 101 not out in just 58 balls against the mighty CSK bowling attack to take his through. He then scored a phenomenal 106 not out in just 61 balls against the Kings XI Punjab. He has scored 50+ runs in his last 4 innings.

Mohammed Siraj becomes the first player to bowl 2 consecutive maiden overs!

Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Mohammed Siraj created IPL history as he became the first player to bowl back-to-back maiden overs in the Indian Premier League.

Not just maiden overs, he picked up two back-to-back wicket maidens as he picked up two wickets in his first and one in his second over respectively.

Siraj conceded only 8 runs off his four overs with an economy of only 2.00. He finished with outstanding figures of 4-2-8-3! 

KKR post lowest 20-over total in IPL history

KKR registered the lowest 20-over total in IPL history as they were hammered by 8 wickets by RCB. They were wrapped up for 84/8 in 20 overs.
