Top 10 highest-goalscorers in the Premier League 2020-21 season and our picks to finish as top scorer

We are just past the halfway line in the Premier League, and the list of the top ten in the race for the Golden Boot includes some surprising names alongside the familiar faces in these areas. Here are the top ten scorers and our pick(s) for finishing the season as the top scorer:

10. Callum Wilson (Newcastle United) 10 goals

The former Bournemouth man has been Newcastle’s most important player this season and has been responsible for 10 of the team’s 26 goals this season.

9. Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) 10 goals

Former Brentford striker Ollie Watkins is one of the most exciting young talents in the league and has adapted to the big league from the Championship brilliantly. There’s a good chance he could finish the season close to 20 goals if he keeps up his form.

8. Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City) 11 goals

The Manchester City midfielder was the January player of the month in the Premier League and could not stop scoring up until recently, filling in the void left by Kevin De Bruyne perfectly. This season is his highest-scoring campaign ever.

7. Patrick Bamford (Leeds United) 12 goals

For all the doubt and the hate that former Chelsea man has received over his capabilities, the fact that he ranks among the top 10 highest scorers in the league in the middle of the season, and as Marcelo Bielsa’s first-choice striker, Bamford will score a lot more by the end of the season.

6. Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) 12 goals

The defending Golden Boot winner, Vardy has been unstoppable despite being 35. His 12 goals in the season have come from 21 games, and it is imperative that the Leicester star will bounce back following a few games out due to injury.

5. Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton) 13 goals

The Everton forward had a rocketing start to the season but has recently found goals hard to come by, alongside Everton’s shaky results. The player has also missed a few games due to injury and will have to stay focused to find consistency again.

4. Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur) 13 goals

Son has managed to take over the Spurs squad as the resident finisher, while Harry Kane has turned provider. The ongoing campaign has seen the Korean establish himself as one of the best forwards in the Premier League, but things have been slowing down for the Spurs squad.

3. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) 13 goals

The England captain kicks off the list of the top three in the race for the Golden Boot at this point in the season. He also has 11 assists this campaign, and up until recently showed no signs of slowing down owing to the dynamic partnership with Son.

2. Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) 15 goals

The Portuguese is without a shadow of a doubt Manchester United’s best player this season and has been ever since he signed for the Red Devils a year ago. He ranks atop the charts for the most goal contributions with 25 and is our pick to finish as the top scorer come the end of the season.

1. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) 17 goals

Salah currently leads the race for the top scorer in the league, and despite Liverpool’s shaky performances as a team, he has been stellar individually. Should the Reds bounce back from their run of losses, Salah will most likely be their top player till the end of the season.
