Official: Tiri signs with Mumbai City FC for 23/24 season

Mumbai City FC have completed the transfer of centre-back Tiri, after the veteran left ATK Mohun Bagan at the end of the season. The Spaniard has signed a one-year deal with the Islanders, and becomes their latest signing of the summer. 

The former Atletico Madrid B defender has played in India since 2015. He was originally with ATK till 2017 before returning to Spain. But only after a few appearances for Marbella FC, he returned to India. The centre-back then player for Jamshedpur FC before moving to ATK Mohun Bagan after their merger. But now, he is set for a new challenge under Des Buckingham.

Tiri joins Mumbai City FC on one-year deal  

“I’m glad to be here and join Mumbai City. The culture at this club is highly spoken of across the league and the ambitions here are for everyone to see. I have played in India for a long time but I want to continue winning and I’m looking forward to defending the league title and winning trophies with Mumbai City. It’s a new chapter for me and one that I’m very excited to get started with,” Tiri told Mumbai City’s official website. 

The Spaniard will now be expected to play an important role in their coming season, especially with the 2023/24 AFC Champions League coming up. 

Mumbai City FC have also signed Akash Mishra on a five-year contract, one of the most highly rated left-backs in the country. And given the early signs of their transfer activity, they are set for another unstoppable season.
