Honestly? It depends on what you’re after.

The film comes from Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola, who previously delivered the entertaining Violent Night (2022) and Netflix’s What Happened to Monday (2017). On paper, Thrash has the right ingredients — two recognizable Netflix stars, a hurricane disaster backdrop, brutal shark attacks — but it struggles to make you care about anyone on screen.

The character development is thin, the emotional beats fall flat, and the promising dynamic between Dynevor and Peak never really takes off. That said, if you’re simply in it for shark carnage and survival tactics, the film delivers enough gore to keep genre fans engaged across its breezy 90-minute runtime.

Think of it as the English-language cousin of Netflix’s Under Paris — minus the suspense that made that film a global hit.
