Think You Can Beat “The Nuke”? Netflix Is Betting £501k You Can’t

Every pub player has said it at least once — “I could take him on a good night.” Netflix just decided to call that bluff. The streamer is launching a live special called Beat Luke Littler, throwing everyday amateurs into the ring against the world’s most dominant darts player, with a jaw-dropping cash prize on the line.

Who Exactly Is Luke Littler?

Nicknamed “The Nuke,” 19-year-old Littler isn’t just a rising star — he’s already a phenomenon. He stunned the sport at just 16 by reaching the final of the PDC World Darts Championship, and has since gone on to win back-to-back world titles in 2025 and 2026, cementing his spot as world number one. His calm, almost bored precision at the oche has made him must-watch TV for darts fans and casuals alike.

What Happens in the Special?

Twenty amateur players get one shot — literally one perfect leg of 501 — to beat Littler live on air. Pull it off, and you walk away with £501,000. It’s simple, brutal, and exactly the kind of high-stakes format that makes for great television.

Can You Actually Apply?

Yes — and the eligibility rules are refreshingly simple. You need the right to legally be in the UK for filming, must be 18 or over (or 12+ if a minor is applying with consent), and — crucially — you can never have held a Professional Darts Corporation Tour Card. This is strictly an amateurs-only showdown.

Littler himself seems to be enjoying the hype, reportedly clapping back at confident fans online with a simple message: bring it on.

Why This Fits Netflix’s Bigger Strategy

This isn’t a one-off. Netflix has been steadily building out live sports and interactive specials, following the growing global appetite for darts as mainstream entertainment rather than just a pub game. Whether an amateur actually beats Littler live on Netflix remains to be seen — but come October 30, most of the UK will probably be watching.
